If you spend a little time on Pinterest or Instagram, you may have noticed that color is definitely back. In fact, we will be encouraged in 2019 to think outside-the-box by introducing more textures, colors, and patterns into our rooms. Striking and memorable—with a bombshell or two in the mix—these 2019 home decortrends are a perfect place to start your redesign wish list.
#1 BOLD COLORS
This trend can be found in accent walls, backsplashes, accessories, and even cabinetry finishes. Many influential paint companies have announced their 2019 color of the year and they vary from bright coral to warm clay to deep blues and teals. Other jewel tone colors such as emerald greens and deep indigoes have also been popping up around the design field. It’s the perfect way to add a little character to a clean and simple design. Just a hint of color can give a monotone space the flair it needs to make a statement for you and your guests to swoon over.
#2 TECH & SMART HOME DEVICES
Having access to products such as Google Home Assistant and Amazon’s Alexa has given the typical person access to technology in their homes that previously has not been as affordable. There are also now ways to connect household objects to these devices such as automatic shades, light bulbs and speakers that turn on/off and lower/raise shades all with the sound of your voice. Due to the increased availability and convenience of use, we will definitely be seeing more of this technology throughout the New Year.
#3 ECHO FRIENDLY & ENERGY AWARE PRODUCTS
Last but not least is the trend of being echo friendly. Throughout the commercial design world and slowly trickling down into the residential design field, is the motivation to become environmentally friendly. This can be along the lines of anything from using energy efficient fixtures to being aware of the materials being selected and making sure they are being locally sourced. Even using automatic shades throughout your house and using them strategically can cut down your electricity bill during warmer months or while you are at work or out of town. With climate change and energy use being such a large topic amongst today’s media, people are becoming more and more aware of their impact on our planet.
