With so many different colors to choose from, it can be a struggle for homeowners to select paint for their home. Here are three ways to find the perfect color for your space, directly from one of our professionals.
Find Inspiration Everywhere
Look for something in the room that you love to use for your color inspiration. Pick out a feature fabric, a colorful pillow or accent piece and use that as your base. Decide what kind of look you are going for. Do you want soothing, vibrant or elegant? This will help guide you in the right direction. A good rule of thumb is to stick with either neutral walls and bright furnishings, or bright walls and neutral furnishings. That will create the ideal combination.

JoAnna suggests that when picking out a wall color, be flexible. Don’t always assume that the exact match is the right color. Sometimes an imperfect lighter or darker shade is a better way to complement your room’s look.

Shed Some Light
Often homeowners apply what they think is the ideal paint color without recognizing how lighting will affect the color at different times of the day. To avoid this time consuming and costly mistake, paint a large piece of foam board with your desired paint color. Move it around your room to see how the light affects the color at different times of the day. You’ll be able to ensure you are getting the look you want for the lighting you have, before you paint the entire space.
