During this time of year, honoring your mother, grandmother or another maternal figure in your life is a time-honored tradition. In fact, President Woodrow Wilson first declared Mother’s Day an official holiday in 1914. This year, Mother’s Day will be recognized on Sunday, May 13, so you have just a few days to get ready.
If entertaining, create the perfect setting with a few small touches to make your home look welcoming, feminine and festive. Arrange beautiful bouquets of flowers inside and place some new exotic tropical plants around the lanai or outdoor pool area.
For the table, pick up some new festive garden plates from your favorite home accessory store, as well as new colorful place mats. Then for the finishing touch, float candles or flower petals in a beautiful glass bowl.
Don’t forget to tuck a gift certificate to her favorite store or spa inside a beautiful card and have it waiting for her. It’s a lovely way to say, “I love you.”
